I am preparing to deploy OCR 1.1 and in skimming through the documents, it appears that we do not support "snapshot" based backups with the OCR database. Is this true?
OCR provides point-in time reporting in the 1.x version. It does not maintain history or multiple copies of acquired data. OCR database can be backed up and restored using the Backup and Restore options available in administration console under administration tab.
