WFA and VMware integration Questions

  1. Can the vRO(vCO) and WFA integration allows to create object in vRA in order to do day2actions?
    for example to provisioning a LUN or a Volume as XaaS in vRA and then to change it (change backup policy\move\enlarge)
  2. Does WFA will have a connector to VSC in order to schedule\automate VMware aware backup?
    or Does WFA will have a connector to SnapCenter in order to schedule\automate VMware aware backup?
  3. (not related only to VMware) Does WFA have an option to run in “Debug mode” to run the tasks step by step (not preview but run)?

Hello!

  1. Not currently.  vRA relies on vRO having objects that can be surfaced to vRA and interpreted to provide that functionality.  Using Dynamic Types this should be possible, but a package has not been created.
  2. There is no connector from WFA to VSC, however there are some workarounds you could use.  For example, using PSRemoting you could create a series of WFA commands and workflows which connect to the VSC server and execute the SMVI CLI commands.  With regard to SnapCenter, there are PowerShell cmdlets available which can be used to create WFA commands and execute tasks against your SnapCenter server.
  3. Not that I'm aware of, but I'm not a WFA expert.

Hope that helps!

@ ( not related only to VMware) Does WFA have an option to run in “Debug mode” to run the tasks step by step (not preview but run)?

-----

The building block entities of a WFA workflow i.e. Commands, Functions, filters, etc. have been provided with individual "Test" options so that you can execute them individually.

Also WFA comands are executed in non-interactive mode. But if you want to debug by having execution not to proceed after a certain given line use return after that line.

For Perl commands you can use exit 1;

Hello,

I did an entire orchestration of create / delete / modify and list share for a NAS Netapp metro cluster with WFA. For this, vRO remerber and store created shares using a create table into some properties stored in configuration using asynchronus scan of the execution token. This supply a complete user interface in vRO. Also the resume feature of WFA can be automaticly launched in any  case of interuption of the provisionning process. Also the Logical Inferface of the SVM to be used to access the share are part of a report send by mail to the requester. Also, the DTREE used for network segmentation is downloaded from the wfa in real time. Also as many as you need wfa can be attached to the vRO in order to supply higher level of segmentation. All kind of probleme has been solved for this projet among all the bug found in the "vRealize Orchestrator Package interoperability". Those implementations  has been choosen and referenced by BNPParibas as a whole group solution. No needs of dynamic type.
