Even though the question is directed to 'Ask the experts', but I can give some pointers.

 

Emulex HBA or for that sake any vendor HBAs have nothing to do with Disk-shelves.

 

I suggest you to go toInteroperability Matrix page and verify that you have a supported combination of the following components for your Emulex HBA:

 

http://support.netapp.com/matrix

 

1. ONTAP software
2. Host computer CPU architecture (for standard rack servers)
3. Specific processor blade model (for blade servers)
4. FC host bus adapter (HBA) model and driver, firmware, and BIOS versions
5. Storage protocol (FC)
6. Windows operating system version
7. Data ONTAP DSM for Windows MPIO

 

Note: DS14 shelfs have past not only EOL but also EOSL (end of support life).
