Snap Center plugin for vSphere and mixed protocols FC and iSCSI

Hi!

I am thinking of installing the snapcenter plugin for vSpherere in an environment where the main datacenter storage is served via FC and the DR site would have iSCSI connectivity.
The question is if in this scenario, Snapcenter would be able to mount snapshots on the DR site being the protocol different from the production site.

Thanks

Hi Francisco,

I wanted to clarify my understanding of the issue at hand. From what I gather, you would like to use SnapCenter (SCV) to mount snapshots from the DR site storage system to the Primary Site. Please correct me if this is incorrect.

To address your query, SnapCenter indeed supports multiple protocols and leverages the capabilities of NetApp storage systems, which are protocol-agnostic and support various storage protocols, such as FC and iSCSI. When SnapCenter mounts snapshots on the DR site, it communicates with the NetApp storage systems using the appropriate protocol based on the connectivity available at the DR site, which is iSCSI in this case.

It's crucial to ensure that the network and connectivity configurations are appropriately set up between the DR site and the NetApp storage systems to support iSCSI connectivity. This involves configuring the necessary networking infrastructure and setting up the storage systems to allow iSCSI access from the DR site.

For more detailed information, please refer to the following documentation: [NetApp SCV Documentation](https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/sc-plugin-vmware-vsphere/scpivs44_restore_vms_from_backups.html).

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

Thanks and Regards,
