Hi Team,

My name is Asif Ali, and I am from a partner based in Bahrain. We have a client looking at the possibility of replacing their existing IBM with NetApp E-2824. Their IBM serves data to production which includes few VM’s and Physical Servers like Domain Controller, Exchange, MySQL, Oracle etc. running Windows 2008 and later OS.

I need to know what migration tools can be used here, if any.

Please note their IBM is ISCSI based.

Regards

Asif Ali

Hi Asif Ali,

Starting with 11.70.1 (supported on E2824), E-Series introduced remote storage volumes feature. This feature is designed to allow users to import data from an existing remote storage device onto an E-Series volume with minimal downtime. It works by establishing an iSCSI connection between the existing remote storage and the new E-Series storage array.

For more details about this feature, please check out below resources:

In addition to Remote Storage Volumes, I'd consider vMotion (Storage) for the VMs.
