Hi Netappmagic,

Unless you are wanting or needing a specific feature available in SCOM, Active IQ Unified Manager is our most comprehensive monitoring and management product.

You can find more information on Active IQ Unified Manager here:

Active IQ Unified Manager Resources

TR-4621: OnCommand Unified Manager Best Practices Guide

Here is some documentation for SCOM:

OnCommand Plug-in 4.1.2 for Microsoft Installation and Setup Guide For Clustered Data ONTAP

OnCommand Plug-in 4.1.2 for Microsoft Administration Guide

OnCommand® Plug-in 4.1.3 for Microsoft Release Notes

The SCOM MP is a bit slow, and take long time to discover objects (sometimes hours, depend on the interval configured). I think OCUM should be kept as the main tool for the ONTAP monitoring. We  had some extensive 1st line processes around SCOM alerts in a company I worked for. And we still decided to invest in integrating OCUM with our ticketing system as well (SCSM).
