Network and Storage Protocols
We are currently running 2 x FAS2050 cluster and 1 x FAS2020 with 7.3.2P6 at our offshore facility.
Our HQ is located at San Jose also having 7.3.2x on their various FAS3000 series. Due to replication we use the same version.
However, we are preparing to upgrade to vsphere 5 at offshore facility and encounter that it only support 7.3.5.1 for FC.
If we upgrade our offshore facility to 7.3.5.1 or 7.3.5.1Px, will the replication to 7.3.2x still works?
Or it only affect when there is a major version change for example 7.3 to 7.4 or 8.x?
Thanks.
Steven
Hi Steven,
We support minor revision relationships, just not major revision relationships.
Thanks,
Doug
Doug,
Kindly confirm whether 7.3.5.1 or 7.3.5.1Px version replication will work if the target filer is version 7.3x which is in the same range?
Anyway are you an NetApp employee. Just to make sure I get the correct answer for my management to consider.
Thanks.
Hi,
Yes it's a minor revision. I would not go from 7.2.x to a 7.3.x family though.
Thanks,
Doug
Sorry I am new to netapp version upgrade. Where is the best location or document to look for OnTap upgrade?
eg. for my case 7.3.2Px to 7.3.5.1Px (revision upgrade).
It will be helpful, if not we have to engage NetApp engineer or third party to help us.
I just get a reply from NetApp for confirmation, the support person mention for snapmirror
from 7.3.5.x to 7.3.2.x. it's NOT possible.
However according to article, https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=2010741
minor revision of anything within 7.3.x is possible.
Data OnTap 7.3.x | Data OnTap 7.3.x | Yes |
Any ideas?
