Hello,
I've found this post very interesting.
Thanks Scott for the Lab pdf which is very usefull.
I'm in the process of migrating a vfiler (root and volumes) into a new aggregate on the same controller (ONTAP 8.1 P2 on FAS3240). In this case, vfiler migrate or Data Motion cannot be use.
So I've decided to use Snapmirror but I've found this article http://support.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/bugrellist?bugno=533787 (Snapmirror migrate of root volume of vfiler to some other volume then subsequent vfiler creation and recreation from this new volume results in panic) which is pretty scary.
I'd like to know if any of you already have experienced this bug and if you find a way to mitigate it.
Il the Scott's Lab, in the section 5 (Moving the vfiler root volume), I've seen that you use vol copy to do it. Could snapmirror be used instead or you were using vol copy precisely to avoid using snapmirror ?
Thank you,
Olivier
