Hello,
I'd like to see if I can utilize the 7MTT to move some ESXi boot luns from old 7-mode FAS3240s to an AFF250 running 9.12.1P1. Of course, the latest version of the 7MTT tool support up to 9.11.1, and I get an error from the tool when I try to connect to the AFF about ONTAP 9.12.1 not being supported.
Questions:
1. Is there hope of a new 7MTT version which supports 9.12.1?
2. Is this limitation overcome by simply adding "ONTAP 9.12.1" to some config file, or is this compiled into one of the jar files?
Any assistance would be appreciated!

I see there is a kb that says 9.12 not supported. But, I am just wondering why this kb is created unless there are no plans to support this version. I guess, only 7MTT team can comment on this.
Release Notes:(Page:3 says the following)
Beginning with ONTAP 9.12.1, you can no longer transition 7-Mode volumes using SnapMirror technology.

Ok, thanks. When I came across a KB stating 9.11.1 wasn’t supported and the saw in the release notes that 3.5 supported 9.11.1 I hoped it’s was just a matter of time. But this mention of snapmirrors no longer working makes me think we waited one version of ONTAP too long.

From memory, 7MTT LUN transition copies the volume that contains the LUN file across via snapmirror, and then loads the file as a LUN into the destination system... it may be possible to orchestrate copying that file manually yourself into a volume via scp and doing the same, but it would be non trivial.. if you've got enough hosts, might be worth trying, if you can safely take a VMWare node offline. Otherwise, this might be a good time to setup vSphere Autodeploy - https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/8.0/vsphere-esxi-upgrade/GUID-9A827220-177E-40DE-99A0-E1EB62A49408.html

Support of DP type relationships (which includes TDP transition relations) disengaged in ONTAP 9.12.1

The only way to continue migration is downgrade the destination cluster
