Discrepancy with the available space between Aggregates, Volumes and LUN's

Greetings,

Recently I started to manage a NetApp FAS2220 and I notice the following situation. The LUN that hold some of our VM's said that we have 287GB available but the volume that contains the LUN says it have 521Gb of available space. Where are those 200+GB  lost?

Additional Info

  • The volume dont have any snapshot.
  • The LUN is Thin Provisioned
  • The Volume is Thin provisioned
  • The Volume have Storage Efficiency turned on
  • The volume runs deduplication every monday
  • The volume Automatically delete older Snapshot copies
  • Support Unicode format for directories. Required during CIFS or NFS access.
  • Update access time when a file is read

On the Volumes screen, select the volume containing your lun and click on the storage efficiency tab at the bottom.  Have a look at the total savings field.

Blocks freed by storage efficiency appear as free space at the volume level, but do not reduce the space allocated to the thin provisioned LUN.

It is on the volume details portion of the screen, at the bottom:
