File assessment tool

I was wondering if there is any tool that can read the actual windows and Linux files that reside on a volume. Like an assessment tool.  I have to do an file audit of several arrays and I don’t want to log into a bunch of windows/linux machines and so forth. A tool that can show me how many files, the size, age and so forth.

XCP may be what you are looking for (particularly its scan functionality, which is designed to collect data on file statistics). You can find more information at https://xcp.netapp.com/

I agree. I think in the docs there is even examples of scanning and not copying. There is a ton of meta data info available from XCP.
