Get notifications when snapshots are not created

Hi,

We use Snapcenter vCenter Pluging to create snapshots for our datastores.

Every now and then there are situations when snapshots are not created due to reason such as Snapcenter server or service is down, but then we also don't get notifications from Snapcenter.

I was wondering if there's a way to get notify when snapshots are not created regularly?

I have ActiveIQ installed and we also use PRTG but I couldn't find a way to monitor such a thing.

Any ideas?

Have you tried SnapCenter email reporting? You can get notified on failure or warning or canceled jobs.

If you want to have regular SnapCenter data protection job updates sent to yourself or to others so that you can monitor the status of those updates, you can configure the option to email the SnapCenter reports when you are creating a resource group.

Hi,

I'm aware of the SnapCenter email notifications. I use them for errors and failures.

But in cases the SnapCenter itself isn't functioning they won't be of any help.

I'm looking for something to let me know there's a problem with the SnapCenter itself

ok, I see your point. For that, you will need to write a script or use some windows application that would report if any SnapCenter core services goes down in the services such as (Plug-In for Windows Service, SnapCenter SMCore Service etc.)

Yeah, so I need an external system to monitor this.

I though perhaps something form the Netapp side that will report if no new snapshots are created.

Or perhaps if PRTG could monitor the SnapCenter services, but I can't find  out how.

If anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear them 🙂
