Maximum number of ip addresses for a vfiler

Hi,

I've found there is no known limit of ip alias (see here: https://communities.netapp.com/message/84222#84222 )

My question is more specific.

Is there a limit in the number of ip address we can assign to a vfiler ?

I've found nothing about this .

Thank you

Regis

Hi - If  you are using Multimode VIF's with VLAN tagging, you could create 100's or even 1000's, but then it may come down to the capacity of the network switch and the number of active VLANS it can handle at once.

vFiler wise i have seen 5-10 IP's active using VLANs and a separate IPspace.

Hi,

Thank you for this information.

We don't intend to use VLAN tagging or ipspace.

The goal is just to achieve a migration with name or ip takeover from the former windows servers.

So all the ip addresses would be ip aliases of the base ip address
