Hello Experts,
Would like to know if we can assign a volume to a multiple host that is part of a host cluster or different cluster? I need to align this on my VMware requirement as I need to see the Datastore on another host. Please advise.
Thanks!

I checked with a contact at VMware -
OK to map to multiple hosts or host clusters.
Cannot map to multiple storage clusters.
VAAI should be OK as long as the datastore has the same UUID everywhere.

As long as the networking/zoning is there, yeah, it's not a problem.

That said, I don't know if it would cause problems on the VMware side or some of the VAAI specific features. NFS datastores in general or any export can be mounted by anyone who has access and connectivity.

Does it mean that the adjustment or the configuration is more on the VMWare side? And no further action on the Netapp side?

So this is going to be more on VMWare configuration?

Yeah. From the NetApp side you just need lifs (that can see the hosts) and the export policy set to allow R/W access.
