I just installed a new shelf in a NetApp 2020. It is not seeing the shelf. Below is what I get when I look at the Shelves Report.
Shelf Name Channel Name Shelf ID Shelf Type Shelf State Module Module State
UNUSED shelf0 UNUSED 0 (the ID is set to 1) - Online a unreachable
All lights are green and there are no faults.
Thanks,

Could you paste output of "storage show"?
It would help if you named Data ONTAP version, shelf model and how you connected it (from which filer port(s) to which shelf port(s))
Data ONTAP version 7.3.3
Shelf Model: DS 14mk2 AT
Usinig FC
From the 2020 0a to the IN on shelf controller 1 (on the top)
From the 2020 0b to the IN on shelf controller 2 (on the bottom)
Are onboard ports configured as target or initiator (or configured at all)? "fcadmin config". Which speed they run currently (can check using "sysconfig -a")?
Which shelf modules are used?
They are set as
Type - initiator
Local State - configured
Status - Online
Link Data Rate 2Gbit

I can't do that; it is in a close area.
I did the command; it looks like I can see disks on that interface.
Here is an example of what I see.
Disk Shelf Bay Serial
0a.16 1 0 J813715
I see the 0b.29 disk and the disks that are in the 2020.
Hi,
Maybe all the disks are assigned for another system (controller). If this is the case, you need to boot the controller, go to special boot menu, go to maintenance mode and runs a disk reassign.

This is right out of the box new.
If you have the opportunity to enter in maintenance mode, do this and runs a "disk show", maybe the guys at factory turn the shelf on to upgrade firmware at disks and/or ESH modules.
If you see the disks in maintenance mode, you must run a "disk reassign" to owner the disks.

disk show -n shows all the disks in the shelf that are not owned.
Can I take ownereship without reboot the 2020?
Yes, using "disk assign" command (you need to specify which disks to assign).
Thanks, I found the command syntax. But I need to go to a stupid meeting. Will let you know.
Thanks,
Yes, of course!
Sorry, I said about the Maintenance Mode, because was understand that the disks weren`t show at disk show -n.
disk assign <disk id>

Well thanks, I was able to assign ownership of the disks and add them to the pool and I am creating a new aggregate.
