Hello All,

New netapp 4 node cluster has been setup and all the port are showing as "UP" while I issue "net port show" command. But "ifgrp show" command show "Partial" for some wierd reason.

We are running Ontap 9.3.P1 version. Can someone help me to fix this ?

Thank you

Hi @PrakashMK,

when an interface group reports partial it means that either one or more physical links are down or LACP packets are not exchanged correctly (when using LACP).

Please have a look at this to start troubleshooting your interface group, also you might want to check TR 3802 to confirm the switch configuration is correct too.

Cause

  • Incorrect cabling between ONTAP and the connected switch
  • Switch port is not configured to participate in LACP

Ensure that the impacted port properly connected to the switch port

Reseat the port and ensure that 'link' and 'activity' LEDs are lit/blinking

Ensure that the correct media type is being used e.g. a fiber converter is present if needed

Ensure that the ONTAP interface is connected to the proper switch port

Trace and document the cabling: note each physical port in the ifgrp and which physical port it is connected to on which switch

Ensure the switch port is enabled and configured to participate in LACP

This may require assistance from the switch vendor
