Hi ,

We have two Netapp servers with cifs shares on two different clusters

1) x_cifs  - on X cluster

2) c_cifs  - on S2 cluster

Both have identical configuration and permissions. i can access \\c_cifs , but can not access \\x_cifs . I am able to ping x_cifs from the the same server , but shares are not acessable on file explorer. Any ideas ? Thanks for your time

I can access both shares from some other server .

Check your time. Check that time in universal time!

Take time zones out of the equation.

if the time is off by more than 5 minutes UTC then the cifs shares by NAE will not work

fix the time and try again

Hi ,

Thank you for your reply . I checked the time using "cluster date show " and they are same on both clusters (2 nodes each)

ok..let me be more specific.

Check the TIME on the NetApp and the Client and the DOMAIN Controllers.

If time is off someplace, getting to the name will not work.

BE SURE TO VERIFY TIME IN UTC FORMAT

ONTAP: cluster date show -utc

Windows: get-date -AsUTC (must have powershell 7.1 or higher)

Make sure all dates are within 5 minutes of each other

Is there any client accessing vserverx_cifs successfully?

What is the error you are getting?

check if vserver has running CIFS sessions or connected to the dc
::> vserver cifs session show
::> vserver cifs session show -session-id <id> -instance
::> vserver cifs domain discovered-servers show

If you can access the share from different servers, but not on "other" servers.  This could mean connectivity issue between the "other" servers.     You might need to check firewall, network, etc between "other" servers and svm.
