Problem with Network Interface - won't come up

Hey folks,

Strange problem here that I'd like to get your input.  We have a quad port network card that I'm trying to use - it has not been used at all in the past.  I am connecting it to my switch and the switch says the port is up and has autonegotiated correctly at 1000/full.  But the filer says:

e3b: flags=4048043<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,NOWINS> mtu 9000
        inet 10.1.1.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.1.1.255
        ether 00:1b:21:4f:1f:79 (auto-unknown-down) flowcontrol full

and network connectivity does not work.

I've tried three different cables, 2 different switch ports, 2 different NIC ports, and a whole other switch as well.

Should I call support and suggest faulty hardware?

Thanks,

Grant

Are you sure you are connecting to correct port on LAN controller? No joking – I spent over half an hour trying to find out why port did not come up. Unfortunately labels on LAN controller are almost unreadable and I tend to forget where port numbering starts.
