User Quota: change content email alert (mailformat?)

Hi,

We're using Netap Realease 8.1.4P1 7-Mode, and we recently have been using userquota's.

Everything is working as expected, but we can't find an option to change the contents of the email alerts generated by the quota thresholds.

I've found some older forum discussions where someone told that you can export and edit the mailformat file by using the command "dfm quota mailformat ...."

But that command does not seem to work on our netapp.

In the admin guide, i also can't find any documentation on that part.

Does someone have experience in changing the email contents for netapp 8.1.4?

Thanks in advance

The 'dfm' command you saw refers to using Data Fabric Manager, now called OnCommand Unified Manager.

It isn't a command to be used directly on the NetApp.

Hi,

thanks for your quick reply.

the answer is only a part of what i wanted to know.

What i really want to know is how i can edit the mail content of the alerts that are sent to the endusers?

The default one is like " you exceeded ..... IT Administrator".

I'd like to change that so it's a bit more user frriendly/more human readable.

You'd need to have OnCommand Unified Manager installed.

Disable the quota alerts on the NetApp storage.

Then enable the quota alerts through OnCommand Unified Manager, and edit the custom notices.

I hope this response has been more helpful to you.

Here are the commands in OCUM/DFM for user quota mailformat:

dfm quota mailformat export { path | - }
dfm quota mailformat import { path | - }
dfm quota mailformat reset

It should be working in your ontap release....

Do reply the status....

Thanks,

Piyush
