Hi, Guys,

Anybody can help me?

My host with sysconfig -v (or -a) command display: (current system is 8.1.3 7-mode)

Model Name: N3220
Machine Type: IBM-2857-A22

But I can NOT find the information from https://hwu.netapp.com/.

Which product should I choose?

Maybe I should upgrade the system because of security check, so I want to check the detailed information for ONTAP upgrading.

Before this, I got FAS2620 details and it's very helpful.

Thanks

Pretty sure that's the FAS3220   There's no N on there.

Not sure you can upgrade N series anymore though.

Yes, the machine is an old one.

I found two posts said N3220, I don't think they mean FAS3220.

Anyway, I must try to find the information for security checking.

hi, @SpindleNinja ,

I noticed that the N3220 is IBM Storage System N series and the installed platform is ONTAP 8.1.3 7-Mode.

Do you know how to check the hardware universe? It's same as FAS3220?

Thanks

Xing

Yes, same hardware,  the N is an IBM rebranded/platform and OS.

Some information about the IBM N3220 at IBM website: N3220 and N3240 hardware specifications - IBM Documentation

Thanks @Amador , I checked IBM website last weekend but nothing useful links found about ONTAP.

They said the latest version is ONTAP 8.2, it's also an old one for me to reach the security check.

So maybe I have to transfer data to my new one.

Thanks

Hi @fxfang I am sorry, I was focused on the hardware and not the software. Definitively 8.1 is an outdated version. And even 8.2 in 7 Mode is going to an end at the end of this year. I was able to find info at Product Documentation - Doc Web - Data ONTAP 8 - 8.2 7-Mode (netapp.com) but, at this point, I think it is much better to move the data out to a newer storage system and software.

The OS image for N series comes from IBM.  I don't think they allow for downloading anymore considering N series went EOL/EOS a while back.

Yes, I have same thinking with you.

Currently I can meet the security check if I can update the ONTAP to a very latest version such as 9.10.

So we are thinking sunset this machine and transfer data 🙂

Thanks

From HWU you can see the limited versions a FAS3220 can be upgraded to. All of them, unfortunately, at the end of support.

So, yes. Best option is a HW and SW refresh.

Yes, I have to do that.
