Your network access was interrupted. To continue, close the database and then open it again

Dear NetApp Community,

Not sure if you can help us with this one: we have an old FAS2552 running ONTAP 9.6 P5 where we have a Microsoft Access database accessible by a few users, which works perfectly fine

We are now in the process of migrating all our data in that ancient FAS2552 into a new FAS2750 running ONTAP 9.10.1 P8. When we have that MS database running on the FAS2750, it closes itself down after a few minutes with this error message: "Your network access was interrupted. To continue, close the database and then open it again", that is bluffering me!

The issue is 100% something with the FAS2750 netapp, because if I move the DB to the old FAS2552 the issue does not happen. I've playing around with the volume and share properties where the DB is stored on the new FAS2750 but to no avail, the issue is still happening

Would appreciate if somebody can help us and indicate us the right direction to solve this issue
Thank you!

One of those threads points issue to network related : Normally this error is related to a network problem, some sort of networking issue, such as mapped network drives disconnecting, outdated drivers, or a machine being disconnected from the network (not just SMB 2.0 traffic, though lately this has been more and more common). In the scenario you bring up, I believe the SMB 2.0 problem doesn’t present itself on Windows XP machines because I don’t think this networking protocol was introduced until Windows Vista.

Are there any errors reported from storage side (events/messages)? Hows the network looking from the storage side serving smb to access ? Is there any congestion or network drops?

What are the settings between two Ontap's for smb? Which clients are facing this ? I doubt if this is anything related to storage but you could try raising a ticket with netapp & Microsoft.

Hi Ontapforrum,

Thanks so much for those links! You were right, there was nothing wrong with the NetApps, the issue was that on our GPO we mapped the drive with the "Replace" action instead of the "Update", that was to ensure the new drive was mapped under the new NetApp storage, but that was causing this problem

We minute we changed the setting to "Update" the issue did not appear anymore

Thanks again for your great help!
