Could I use a Empty formely SAS Disk DS4243 Shelf for SSD?

Hi All, Quick Question

We got a new hafl populated SAS Disk Shelf DS4243, then We passed the 12 disks to other Disk shelves

Now the customer want 9 units of 100GB SSDs

Can I use this empty shelf?

If the shelf is completely empty (SSD shelves must be isolated) you should be able to use it as a new SSD shelf.  Keep in mind that you'll want to add it as a new stack on a controller which only serves out SAS & SSD disk.  This will ensure that CP commits are not hindered by slower disk on the back end.  The outstanding question would be whether NetApp sells just the disk.

yes, NetApp does it, I just quoted ten inviduals SSDs for this shelf. thanks
