Hi all,

I am trying to add more disks to an ESXi 5.5 Simultaor on 8.2.2P1 7-Mode and even in the case I assign to VM one IDE 1 TB storage I am not be able to expand the number of disks over arraound 200 GB.

When I try to add new disks appears the next error message on  diag user systemshell:

hostname% sudo vsim_makedisks -n 10 -t 36
/usr/sbin/vsim_makedisks: More than 124 disks already exist in directory ,disks.

Could you  tell me if this limit could be workarrounded?

Thanks in advance.

VNNAVAR -

There's no hack around it I know of.

The old 7-sims were limited to 28 disks, and only up to 1GB sim drives.

I'm happy they let us have so many bigger disks on the new sims ...

I hope this response has been helpful to you.

The default vmdk on which the sim disks reside is 250gb.  If you want more than ~220gb of sim disks you need to use a larger vmdk.  Then you can build it with a bunch of 9GB drives and max out the capacity at ~500GB.
