Hi all,
What would the maximum iSCSI Lun size in FAS 6000 series. Or is it not tried with protocol and i can take it as 16 TB. Please advise
thanks,
Ravindra
LUN size does not depend on protocol.
Hi,
What version of ONTAP are we talking about? For 7.3 your limit on the filer side is 16TB, indeed.
Check also what is your OS limit.
Regards,
Radek
It would be ONTAP 8.0.1 , and the luns would be presented to ESXi 5.0 host which would run a whole range of vms
vSphere 5 can handle LUNs up to 64TB, but max LUN size is still 16TB in ONTAP 8.0.1 - so 16TB is the effective maximum.

Radek
If think, on FAS6000 (except 6210 & 6040) ... if you have 64-bit aggr then the max limit is 100TB. Including snap reserve and disk overhead space. Not that you can't, but just curious to know, why would you setup such a huge LUN (that to iSCSI) for production environment? Unless this will be provisioned as QA or Dev or something else.
Thanks,
Nisar
Single file size limit is still 16TB.
Ditto - see the table on page 86 in this doc: fc_iscsi_config_guide_80.pdf
Keep in mind that for ESXi 5 the max. datastore size is 64TB but the max. VMDK size is still 2TB so if you would like to have a volume inside of your VM you will not be able to go over this limit unless you create an iSCSI LUN outside of the VM and use either RDM or MS iSCSI inside of the VM to connect to it.
