Hi,

does anyone have a download link for the latest OnCommand API Services which is needed when using Ontap 9.6 or earlier with vVols? On the NetApp download page it's not listed.

Regards,

Frank.

Honestly, I have never explored/used this service, but just digging about it, seems it is NOT something that is available as a 'Download' under standard download page.

It says - To install OnCommand API Services, you must download the installation shell script from the support site to a target system that is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS.

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-tools-vmware-vsphere/configure/task_register_oncommand_api_services_with_ontap_tools.html

I checked the IMT: Ontap 9.6 is compatible with onCommand API -2.2

Have you followed the instructions per this doc- Downloading and installing OnCommand API Services
https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMLP2843273/html/GUID-FA2F0895-6DB0-48FB-BACD-7E3E840958E4.html

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I've followed the installation instructions, but they state:

  1. Use your web browser to navigate to the NetApp Support Site at mysupport.netapp.com, and then locate the Download pages for installing OnCommand API Services.
  2. Download the OnCommand API Services <binary name>.bin bundle to a directory on the target Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS system.

And that's my problem, the oncommand API service (whether it be a script of bin file) is not available from the download site.

I see your point.

I guess there is some error in netapp documentation. I found another page, this looks like a proper page for download, but when clicked it simply logs you into the support page dashboard.

Try going here:

That link indeed redirects to the support dashboard. Looks like all links to OnCommand API services are broken, but the documentation is still there.

Yes.  I would advise just log a ticket with NetApp, it will be tracked faster. In the mean time, I will try and get some clarity here. Hoping OnCommand API team on the forum will take note of this issue.

No worries.

Interestingly, this is the name of the bin file, I happened to see on the Lenovo(NetApp's partner for DM series) page.

"ocapi_2.2P1_linux_x86-64.bin"

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds549523-oncommand-api-services-dm-series

It must be available somewhere on the netapp support page, most likely its broken.
