A few days ago our SMVI server started failing all backup jobs (about 30) with the following error.
2011-04-17 15:29:41,022 PROGRESS - Starting backup request

2011-04-17 15:29:57,187 PROGRESS - Storing logs for backup_test_20110417152941 in file C:\Program Files (x86)\NetApp\SMVI\server\repository\logs\f9de5703-8d9a-4ad5-9801-dbff44372744\backup_backup_test_20110417152941.xml
We opened a ticket with NetApp and had them look over the log which didn't show any issues. Strangely 24 hrs (with 1min) the jobs started running again without error. Now we find ourselves in the same situation where all the backup jobs have failed and continue to do so. I can confirm that the vCenter creds are good, I even created a new account but the same issue occurs. Other SMVI servers continue to function without error.
Our environment is:
vSphere 4.1 with ESXi hosts
SMVI 2.0
Has anyone else had this happen to them? Any help with this matter would be welcome.

I would be tempted to force a re inventory by removing then adding the Storage controller from SMVI. Anything odd about that VM? IN a different folder? A different OS type? On a particular host?
