qtree or no qtree

I am creating luns for vmware.

starting with volumes

then

qtree

then lun

but I see I can bypass creating a qtree and going directly from volume to lun

what shoukd i do?

I tend to lean toward qtrees, but I am more of an old schooler... many of my colleages go without qtrees and are just as correct.  Some advantages of qtrees are quotas (tree quotas) ability to replicate the container with snapvault and qtree snapmirror, and ndmp is optimized for volumes and qtrees if you want to separate backup jobs without backing up the entire volume.

HI,

If you are planning to create multiple LUN in the same volume, I would suggest you to create a qtree for each.

Here are the best practices, this seems to be very good you should go through it.
