There is no inherent synchronization between the two schedules. I think, if two snapshots are attempted at exactly the same second, one of them may fail. T is always better to schedule so that they do not overlap.

Hmm ... you are right, seems that cDOT does not have direct analog. Command map suggests "snap delta" from node shell. As long as volumes are still visible fom node shell this should be possible.

Snapshot "size" is amount of changed or deleted data, while snap mirror transfers new data. Did you check Snap delta between two snap mirror snapshots? I believe, total transfer time refers to the last completed snap mirror transfer, not the one in progress.

You do not really need reserved space in usual case on volume level, as long as there is enough space in containing aggregate; but monitoring tools may nag you with "volume free space too low" messages.

NFS and vmware should be transparent if configured suitably. There will pause in accessing data from NetApp so all applications need to be able to survive it. You can look at documentation for various host utilities which timeouts they set by default (they should represent worst case). CIFS sessions will be interrupted and applications will need to reconnect.

There are no issues with changing shelf IDs or moving them to different HBA. Disk configuration is stored on-disk, not tied to specific disk access path.

It is possible to do SMTape to file on NetApp; then you can copy this file to external client and transfer to remote NetApp. You still need enough space on source and destination to do it. Also this is diag level option so usual warning applies. I am not aware of any possibility to connect USB storage device directly to NetApp, and even if this were possible, I would be very surprised if it could be accessed on WAFL layer.

I vaguelly remember some general issues with FCX shelves management in earlier 8.0 releases. May be what you see is not specific to PS toolkit at all. You really should update, this is just too old.

Well, hot cable move between adapters is supported as of 8.2.1; see kb2023388. The catch is "between adapters". Not between shelf and adapter 🙂 I think this is one of those twilight zones where you do not get direct answers.
