Hi

If you are running a release earlier than Data ONTAP 8.3.x, you cannot upgrade directly to ONTAP 9.0 or 9.1. You must upgrade to Data ONTAP 8.3.x first, then upgrade to ONTAP 9.0 or 9.1.

Changing setenv will reset the system and data will be lost. Refer https://library.netapp.com/ecm/ecm_download_file/ECMP1636041 to do an upgrade to 8.3

Hi

Just to put it in to simple words. Going from 7-mode to cluster mode is "scorched earth".

You will need to wipe the filer and lose all data.

They where build for testing, now we don't need them anymore... so it will be a complete wipeout, will be repurposed for next project.

Hi Chiatan, how are you doing?

This hotsite and systems will help you to transition your systems: https://transition.netapp.com/

There is an step-by-step wizard and, if you have the ASUP activated, it will verify your systems configuration.

You'll need to transition your license from 7-Mode to cDOT before start the transition ok?

Hi,

The basic process is outlined at https://kb.netapp.com/support/s/article/ka31A0000000zq3QAA/how-to-repurpose-a-data-ontap-8-1-x-or-later-7-mode-node-to-a-clustered-data-ontap-8-3-node...

Download the regular and netboot 9.2 images and make them available over HTTP. Once the boot loader variables are set, netboot with the 9.2 netboot image, then from the boot menu of that, "install new software" and point it at the location of the 9.2 installer.
