LUN Creation inside a qtree vs inside a volume

Hi All,

Usually we are creating the LUNs inside a qtree. for ex: (/vol/volname/qtreename/lun).

What is the limitation if i create LUNs inside a volume directly i.e., lun creation without qtree (/vol/volname/lun)

Please suggest me on this.

The main reason you would create a lun in a qtree rather than directly in the volume is to enable you to use qtree snapmirror instead of volume snapmirror. Also many of the snapmanager products need them to work.

Given there isn't really any overhead in using qtrees, I'd stick to doing it that way.
