ONTAP 8.3 Replaced drives Firmware Update

Hello,

We have a FAS 3240. We replaced a broken drive. The new drive is not on the same firmware as the other drives. Can we simply upgrade the firmware on 1 disk? Will this impact anything on production by just updating the firmware on a single disk?

This is the command I would run?

storage disk firmware udpate -disk  (name)

Any help is appreciated...

Thanks

Netapp Newbie.

I would first update your DQP - https://mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/download/tools/diskqual/    see if that helps.

I would also think about updating to the latest firmware - https://mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/diskfwmustread.cgi/download/tools/diskfw/bin/all

There's no downtime,  it will pull disks out one at a time from the raidgroups and update the firmware.

You can also do the shelf firmware too at this time.

I'm assuming that the new drive has a newer firmware than the rest of them?

My apologies. The new drives firmware is actually older.
