Ontap Alerts Managing

I would like to know the best practice to manage the alerts on Ontap.

You use OnCommand Unified manager latest version

For 8.3 and above,  the core place will be

System Manager 3.1.1  cluster version

System Manager 3.1  you can manage stand alone 7 mode versions

The 8.3 has built in web server for System manager - the clustermode

Everything will be based on System manager for future releases.

OnCommand Unified manager needs a license, is it free? where can i get it?

I'm using System Manager but i can't find anything to set "alerts"  from the storage....
