I'm trying to convert brand new system shipped with cDOT 8.3RC2 into 7mode.
Perform the following steps to convert from Data ONTAP Cluster-Mode to Data ONTAP 7-Mode
To convert from Cluster-Mode to 7-Mode:
LOADER> set-defaults
LOADER> boot_ontap
This action plan worked well with 8.2.x systems but somehow I can't have it done with 8.3.RC2. Even after 2 tries I still ended up with cDOT.
Did something change starting with this version? If the 7mode is not preloaded on CF card, what are my options?
Solved! See The Solution
FAS2552 , 8.2.3 7mode is possible.

please raise a support case, they would be able to guide you to switch the preinstalled c-mode to 8.2.3 7 mode.

Hi Milan_nemcik,
Please see the 8.3RC2 download page
http://mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/download/software/ontap/8.3RC2/
The download page mentions the below note:
>> Note: There is no Data ONTAP operating in 7-Mode version of this release.
you cannot covert C-mode to 7 mode because of above in 8.3RC2

Hi Srinivas,
that I was afraid of that it applies also to the CF card images. But I still should be able to make a new instalation of 7mode 8.2x, is that correct?
which platform is this ? FAS XXXX ?
and i would recommend you to create a support case before doing this.

FAS2552, we already do have couple of them so they do support 7mode, just to find our with NetApp support how to install it
