Running 9.2RC1 in a simulator

SeanHatfield

While we wait for the official 9.2 simulator to be posted to the tool chest, if you want to run 9.2RC1 in a vsim you may need to adjust a setting or two to get the workstation version to boot.

On the workstation version, 5gb of ram doesn't seem to be enough.  Adding an additional 128mb or 256mb to the VM should allow it to boot.  Alternatively, you can keep it at 5gb if you move the pci hole by adding this line to the virtual machine's .vmx file:

pciHole.start = "1024"

The ESX version defaults to 8gb of ram, so that build should run 9.2RC1 as-is.
