Simulator Install issues

Hi All

I'm trying to install the Netapp Sim v9.11.1

On to Vm Workstation Pro 17

Windows 2019

But the install keeps terminating with the attached.

This is a home lab so I'm running it on my older HP ProLiant ML350 G6

I'm really hoping this isn't a hardware issue can anyone assist at all .?

"Illegal Instruction" is typically a CPU incompatibility issue, seems like this person had the same problem:

Check the suggestions there, but I'm betting your CPU is at least 10 years old.

Hi there

I was really hoping it wasn't down to pCPU but had pretty much resigned myself to the fact, So many thanks for the clarification.

Yes my lab server is old tin but (generally serves well for the purposes i need)  its a HP ML 350 G6.

Running a Xeon E5645 proc

I believe this is of the Westmere generation.

So what is the latest version of the NetApp sim I can install against this CPU any ideas ?

It must be cDOT [not 7 Mode]

If poss could you send over a link .?

Regarding a link, a bunch of versions, including 9.8, are available here.

ONTAP 9.8 would be the last version.  Starting with 9.9.1, only CPU models from Intel Xeon Sandy Bridge or later are supported for ONTAP.

Hi All

Indeed-ey On-Tap Sim 9.8 did install !

Fab thanks so much all

Howevere now I get a new issue...

Following cluster build and config (to a base level)  I initiated the commands to perform a cluster shutdown.

Now on Reboot it ends at the attached (after being left on overnight).

Perhaps its something as easy as lowering the VM Hardware version which i haven't tried yet

Hi All

The Sim just needed more memory so resolved that one !

Upped to 8Gb and a fresh build works as expected.

If you have previously powered on a mod is needed the below link sorted it out for me.
