Hi,
I have run a scan on my datastores and found loads of misaligned luns. Basically in Ontap the lun show -v command shows that 80%+ of my luns are misaligned (partial writes). I have used the VSC tool to create a new "optimised" datastore based on the offset of a particular vm. The nett result is a brand spanking new optimised datastore with its happily now aligned vm in it.
The question I have is is it really aligned?
I ask this because NetApp still sees my new optimised lun as misaligned (partial writes). So is their any benefit in lying to VMware that the vm's are aligned yet on NetApp they are not?
Please can someone help me understand this better?
