vmdk convert to vmdk

I have a windows vmware vm atatched to a LUN via in-guest intiator (snapdrive).

I want to convert this LUN to virtual RDM before converting this to vmdk(storage motion can only be done with virtual RDM).

The lun was created as windows type and attached to vm at present.

Do I have to change this lun type to vmware type to connect to Esxi host igroup or leave  it as it is since windows server is going to use as RDM?

if i have to change the lun type to vmware  then How do i do that whithout damaging the data?

Hello!

May be you can use VMware vCenter Converter for your task?
