so i was able to create a clone for a volume flexvol0 with some stuff in it vol clone create flexclone0 -b flexvol0 now that i have create a clone volume, I tried to offline flexvol0 which is fine. but I was not able to delete it. why is that? it says busy or it has a clone also with my flexvol0 offline, I see flexclone0 is online but how do I access that? flexclone0 should have the same data as flexvol0. ... creating vmware luns shows as solaris

I found out that if didnt create the lun with full capacity of the volume, eg say the volume I create was 10GB and I specify the lun to max it out in MB then the lun protocol type will show as solaris but if I createa  lun of say 5gb, then the lun protocol type will show as vmware. then i can resize it to the max and it will keep the protocol type at vmware. would you be able to check if you are getting the same result? ... esx lun empty but shows used

im trying o understand but not getting it. by default i think the snapshot reservation is 20% and space reservation is checked. if i set snapshot resevation to 0 and uncheck space reservation. then a 50gb lun us a 50gb lun. then what i see within esx will refect what i see in the filer right? where does fractional reserve come into play? or where is this option? esx cannot see netapp lun

i am rying to create a lun to my esx server but have not been able o do it. I have created he volume, qtree, lun and initialtor group and map the lun o the initiator group but rescan of the hba still does not see the lun. the san switch is configured correctly since no zones have been configured and its full access. any idea? I noticed that the lun i creaed in netapp even though i select vmware changes back to solaris afer its been created. any idea thanks ... View more
