This question must have asked by someone else here. As I understand that the snapshots are taken at volume level not at lun level . vol status shows that nosnap=on, this means that no snap sched runs for that volume or LUN. If we want snap shot for lun then we can take snapshot at LUN level using snapdrive not at ontap. I am correct ?

I want to remove a disk shelf from a HA pair and connect that disk shelf into an another HA pair. Hope someone will correct if my steps below are wrong.. 1- Destroy the aggregate (I snapmirrored all volumes to an another aggregate which is not part of this disk shelf and moved the root volume too). 2- cf disable. 3- disk zero all 4.disk asign <disk id> -s onowned on eat a time for all the disks on that shelf. 5- halt both controllers. 7. power down the shelf and remove it I am not sure whether I have to power down the controllers.

Since I am new to this snapmirror area, hope someone will answer to this question? I did snap mirror a volume like below snapmirror initialise -S fileera:vola filerb:volb Everything was ok, then snapmirror break volB I noticed that status shows that snapmirror relation was broken-off. I not want this status listing anymore. How do I remove that I did snapmirror release vola filerb:volb nothing happened. onComand system manger also shows that snapmirror relation is Broken-off. I do not want to delete the entry in onComand manager before I make sure that it is ok to delete.

Hope smeone can give me an answer. We have a filer with 14 disks and one aggregate aggr0, the raidsize =20 so this aggregate has only one rg for now with 14 disks. I want to add more disk to that aggregate but do not have same size , this case, I am thinking of creating new raid group. by doing this (I never did this) > aggr add aggr0 -g new -d <disk1> <disk2> , etc (total 7 disks) 1. Will this put the all 7disks in the new raid group or add the disks in th existing raid group ? 2. If that create new raid group for he 7 disks, Can I increase that raid group later when I have more disks, that is, from RG7 to RG=20?

I am new to netapp and hope someone can recomend me this. I have FAS2024 with dual controllers with HA pair. filerA has aggregate 0 with 12 interanl disks(830GB SATA) and filer B has 24 disks with an 4243 disk shelf. Both aggregates are configured with Raid Size=20 . My questions are these. 1- Can I assign disks from a new shelf (Ds4243 with 24*2.2TB) for both filers?, that is, 12 disks for filer A and other 12 disks are for filerB 2- if I can assign how do I assign the 2.2TB to existing aggregate in a new Raid group, becuase the esisting RG has 830GB and do not want to mix larger disks?
