JRE must be installed not Java SE. I do not understand it. There is Java SE Runtime Environment and Java SE Development Kit. Both are Java SE. Can you explain what you mean?

Foreign aggregate detected on new disk will be renamed to something like aggr0(0). cDOT won't show it, you will need to destroy it in nodeshell (effectively in 7-Mode), but you will need to enable &-Mode commands first; there is KB that explains it but I do not remember its number.

Unix is using UIDs (not names) to authenticate so even if you use NFSv4 names you still must ensure that both ident and server (NetApp) resolve names to the same UIDs. So you need working name to UID resolution anyway. And no, NFSv3 does not use names (and even with NFSv4 actual authentication - RPC - is still using UIDs).

Mixed mode is either or. Effective style is Unix, so that is what is used and displayed. You cannot merge two sets of ACL. Normally the last change wins, this suggests that file was modified from Unix client after you changed Windows ACLs.

It sounds you are auggesting to use SV to replaced SM, then will SV play the same role as SM play on DR for DR purpose? This depends on your use case. They behave differently w.r.t. cascading and even if reversing SV relationship is possible in cDOT, it is more involved than using SM. Of course, various add-on tools that manage relationships may support only specific type (SM or SV) as well.

If you run 8.3.1 you should be able to use version-flexible SnapMirror with sm_created label. Otherwise SnapVault is probably the only option.

NetApp does not have any default IP; not sure where you got them from, nor what ports 1 and 2 mean. Are you sure you are using correct ports and cables. I have no issues using e.g. Cisco console cable with two different USB-to-serial adapters and PuTTY. You need to use 9600, 8 bits, no parity, no flow control. What ports do you connect to?

See https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=1013046&locale=en_US for instructions how to remove foreign aggregates in cDOT. Of course as always make sure new filer runs at least the same or newer version of cDOT.

Supported are qualified switches from NetApp and Cisco. They must be running qualified firmware versions and configuration. Also cluster switches cannot be shared, they are dedicated to intracluster communication.

NetApp ASUP e-mail is fixed predefined and need not be configured. You can only enable or disable sending autosupport. You need to make sure your SMTP relay can send e-mails to NetApp. Alternative is to use HTTP(S) for ASUP delivery to NetApp. You still can use SMTP for local destinations.

There is no such thing as SAN volume (strictly speaking, NAS volume too). There is LUN which is created on a volume. If you want to move data to a LUN, you must do host-based copy. But it would be useful if you explained what you are trying to do, not how you want to do it.

Actually that's not how I understood it. You have two independent steps - export 7-Mode configuration and apply it to C-Mode. I do not see why it should not be possible to reuse existing heads to build new cluster. You need extra disks for root aggregate for sure, you cannot reuse existing aggregates as node root. I sincerely hope my understanding was correct.
