Tuncay - The volume move command is disruptive, mostly. There's the time it takes to do the last snapmirror transfer while we quiesce the IO on the front end before updating the VLDB to point to the new volume location. The default cutover delay is 30 seconds. See the man page for the command: http://docs.netapp.com/ontap-9/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.netapp.doc.dot-cm-cmpr-920%2Fvolume__move__start.html As for your second question ... NFS 3 will continue to use the same LIF. Best practice would be to migrate the LIF to the new node when you move the volume. I hope this response has been helpful to you. At your service, Eugene E. Community - Did you forget Insight this week ? I did. I forgot. I forgot Insight was this week at the Mandalay Bay in Vegas. Have been so busy teaching classes here in India that I didn't make the connection. I'm suddenly devastated by the tragedy there. The realization brings this tragedy so much closer to home for me. I've been to Insight several times. It brings it so close to home. Can't even imagine what it's like to be there now. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who are there this week... KK - I'm guessing you're a guy I know from our past ? Apologies I didn't respond to your Message on LinkedIn - I've been soo busy lately ! Yes, Snapdrive and SM for SQL on both servers. You didn't mention if this a clustered environ ? The LUNs for the DB should be owned by their own Vserver, seperate from the VMware vserver. I think we can snap a VMDK these days, but I'd migrate theSQL data to a LUN. With the latest implementations it's now possible to host SQL on CIFS SMB 3 continuously available share... Yes, yes, and no - it's a shared LUN. From the install doc: Configuring MSCS to install Workflow Automation Before you install Workflow Automation (WFA) in Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS), you must configure your MSCS environment. Before you begin MSCS must be installed from the server manager. Optional: SnapDrive for Windows must be installed. The minimum supported versions are Windows 2008 and 2012. The same version of WFA must be installed using the same path on both the cluster nodes. Both the cluster nodes must be added to the same domain. About this task You must complete this task by using Cluster Manager in the MSCS interface. Steps Log in to Cluster Manager as a domain admin. Verify that the LUNs are accessible to both the nodes using one of the following options: Managing the LUNs natively. By using SnapDrive for Windows: Install and configure SnapDrive for Windows on both the nodes. Create a LUN using SnapDrive for Windows and configure the LUN for both the nodes. From Failover Cluster Manager, add the disk to the cluster. Again, see 'Managing High Availability' in the 'Installation and Setup Guide for Windows' WFA documentation: https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMLP2597422/html/frameset.html I hope this response has been helpful to you.
