Yes you need to use an approved SFP. If that's not a 10Gb SFP it won't work.

I think you want

ifconfig e0g  up

ifconfig e0h up

May want to confirm SFP is 10GbE as well.

Have you rebooted ?,   the change is in effect after rebooting the node.

confirm that you have the good SFP+, there is a difference between FC and ETH...

Rebooted already and the port type changed from FC to CNA.

SFP on the Netapp side showing it supports 4,8 and 16GB speeds (Last screenshot in my post) . Whereas my switch side is a 10Gb SFP If this is the case i cannot use it because the switch end SFP is 10G ?

Hello NAYABSK,

When you use a CNA, you are working with Ethernet speed (10GBPS). The speed on the SFP of 4-8-16 GBPS is FC speed. So my guess is that you have the wrong sfp in there.... Do you want to do FCoE with your Setup ?

So you need the ethernet SFP+ (10 Gbps) because fcoe is encapsulating the fc frames inside ethernet frames.  Be sure to adjust the MTU .,..

Sorry for the delay, were you able to get the fcoe going ?
