Try using this command:
::>network port broadcast-domain remove-ports
This is another kb, haven't tried but you can give it a go (as you are working on simulator)

Sorry, I didn't see that you are adding 'additional ports' to the simulator ?

Ok, tried in my simulator 9.10, and surprisingly it worked.
1) I have a already working simulator (Default 4 ports :2 Cluster & 2 default 1500mtu).
2) VMware workstation | Settings | Add 'Network Adapter'
3) ::> reboot (simulator)
4) Once it booted up, logged in and checked: network port show (It showed up as e0e)
5) added to to the default broadcast domain
6) Created a LIF on e0e.
