can I use the smvi in the virtual storage console to create the backups and snaps and then snapvault to another filer to retain for a longer period? If so how please..
Yes you can use VSC to create a snapshot based backup on local storage and then use the Post Process script part of the scheduler to send the data to another controller through SV. For the SV part and more details you can see this page @ http://communities.netapp.com/docs/DOC-8720
