Don't see any APD's during a lif migrate operation Network components look all good We have found in the logs that during the failover the NFS service is taking about 5 seconds to startup on the active node. We are going to drop the MaxQueueDepth to 32 on an ESXi host and test failover again.

Hey Sean - Clustered Ontap 8.3.2P5 Model AFF 8060, VSC setting have been applied. Yes VSC settings have been applied and hosts rebooted. Switches are 5k's VPC port channel for NFS ifgrp on the AFF's. 1 port from each netapp port channel to 5k switch 1 and 2 - MTU 9000 throughout. I have read that article but that article seems to of been written if you are experiencing random APD's through a normal day. I have a support ticket open with VMware - who have suggested the drop in MaxQueueDepth to 32 based on what the storage vendor says. I also have a ticket with Netapp which has not gotten very far

Hi, We have noticed within VMware (version is 5.5. update 3 with NFS datastores) that during a controller failover (i.e. testing or Data Ontap upgrade) that a few datastores experience the All Paths Down (APD) event for about 10 seconds. NFS.MaxQueueDepth is set at 64 currently. The APD events only occur on controller failover and not during normal operations. Has anyone experienced this on controller fail overs, and has anyone had success with eliminating APD events by dropping the NFS.MaxQueueDepth to 32 or less ? Thank you

Hi, I've installed a new instance of WFA4 along with Unified Manager 7 Within Unified Manager when I "Setup OnCommand Workflow Automation" via the setup options, it created the Data Source in WFA however the hostname is set to localhost so upon trying to make a connection I get access denied. If I change the data source host to the correct hostname of the Unified Manager server I then get the error: "unknown column 'volume.styleExtended' in 'where clause' Has anyone seen this before ?

Here is another work around guys, opened a ticket with Netapp and got around this by setting the ip manually. I documented the full procedure here: http://www.sysadmintutorials.com/netapp-performance-manager-2-1-rc1-and-vsphere-5-5-install-error/

Hi, Is there a way to configure Advanced Disk Partioning in the latest simulator 8.3.2RC1 C-Mode, for practising ADP and also AFF deployments ? I've removed all disks that come configured in the default install and created a few shelves of 500MB SSD's, however upon initialization (whether assigning the disks to the node or leaving them unassigned) the system won't create disk partitions. A message pops up at the initialization stage that 4 internal disks could not be found, advanced disk paritions will not be used.

I got a chance to test this and it is not possible: Error: command failed: iSCSI or FCP LIFs do not support LIF migrate You need to add the additional FCP LIFs from the new node into the existing zones and then remove old lif's. Multipathing and snapdrive should sort out the optimal paths

Hi, We will be adding in a new Fas8040 cluster pair to an existing 3240 cluster pair, migrating all the data across and then decommissioning the original 3240 cluster pair Currently we are using FCoE on multiple vservers or SVM's and would like to preserve these target addresses so we don't have to re-zone. Is it possible to rehome or migrate the FCoE lif to another port ?
