VSC 4.2.1 vs VSC 5.0?

Hi,

We are implementing cDOT 8.2 with VMware datastores via NFS. I am planning on installing VSC. What's the major differences between the two versions other than supporting different versions of ESXi, vCenter, etc.? We have vCenter 5.5 with a mix of ESXi 5.0 to 5.5.

Is VSC 5.0 a branch of 4.x or replacing 4.x? Honestly I don't have alot of confidence for .0 releases from NetApp.

Can it be used with VMware vSphere 5.0.0 U3 or is it only for 5.1 or later?
