Hi All, A NAS qtree is exported to all hosts in a NFS environment (this is an exception, as exports are done to specific hosts usually) with 1000s of linux hosts. Qtree is reporting NFS activity and we need to find the hosts and unmount on all of them to decommission this NAS mount. Could you suggest any method to identify the hosts mounting the NFS share (IP/hostname) from ONTAP? Thanking you, BL.

Some time this affects the unsaved data. Is there a workaround/solution to prevent from this happening? appreciate your feedbacks. Thanks in advance

Small piece of input, you need to be considering a NetApp VSC (Virtiual Storage console, a plugin to vCenter, whcih uses vCenter APIs for its operation). Going forward there won't be new versions of SMVI, backup/recovery feature is available in VSC licensed via SMVI license on controllers. Please read the product documentation available on support site (NOW site) for more details.

Now I read the question correctly, I am not completely sure but as far as both the systems sees the common snapmirror snapshots I guess it will work.

You have to do the baseline transfer again, if it is with in the datacenter on that LAN it will have a much higher transfer speed. If it is across dataceneter you can also use SM to Tape method for baseline, typically used in low network bandwidth environments.

halt -f is the correct procedure for halting one node of a cluster with out initiating a cluster fail-over. No need to disable the cluster by cf disable. You can log into the node and issue "bmc status" to find the BMC IP. BTW all sysadmin manuals are free, and you can access them via your NOW site ID.

I have seen this temp sensor error (with error: 3) gets automatically cleared after some time and all the sensors comes back to normal. Please scan /etc/message files for any logs related to this. Log a case with NetApp support in case of suspicion.

Both works.ONTAP adds a name to each interface in the format hostname-interface in /etc/hosts file that might be the reason for the default rc file entry format. Not aware of any specific reason.

If this is a CIFS environment, I will consider disabling client access to snapshots as described in below link http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/ontap/rel733/html/ontap/onlinebk/GUID-56684CAA-FA05-450C-93D4-C12D8A695F07.html

I have a MPHA cluster. recently added a new DS4243 shelf. I have not assigned the disks to any node. This is the last shelf on the stack. While adding the shelf I got into a Shelf ID conflict and need to reboot the shelf to clear it. Question: If I power off the shelf in this current config and reboot, what will be the consequences. Is ONTAP going to panic/failover etc?or my problem will be solved(shelf boot up with correct ID) with out rebooting the the entire shelves and controllers. If anybody has any experience, please like me know. Thanks in advance.

You are advised to use Oncommand Systems Manager v2 from now site (free download). Connect to filer via console/management i/f ifconfig vif_name down vif destroy vif_name *ifgrp in ONTAP 8 Update /etc/rc file. Remove entries for VIF and then add ifconfig entry for the interface that you would like to setup. Sample ifconfig e0a `hostname`-e0a netmask 255.255.255.0 Make sure to update /etc/hosts file for ' hostname`-e0a >source /etc/rc verify changes by ifconfig -a Also refer to the network admin guide (for the ONTAP version that you are running) available to download under http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/ontap/ontap_index.shtml
