Thank you all for your help. I started with disk satitize start -c . It is almost 24 hours for 60%. Will option 4 take less time than >disk sanitize start -c 1 ?

Hello, I am trying to securely wipe all the data on our FAS3210 before we take them out of the service. I am not sure whether I reboot the filer and CTRL+C then follow the menu or use > disk sanitize start -p 0x55 -p 0xAA -r -c 6 drive list I also want to know how long it will take at each for 100 disks. I would appreciate your help on this.

Exchange 2016 has not got management tool like Exchange 2013/2010. What is the requirement if we want to avoid running verification on a Exchange 2016 production server?

I want to convert this LUN to virtual RDM before converting this to vmdk(storage motion can only be done with virtual RDM). The lun was created as windows type and attached to vm at present. Do I have to change this lun type to vmware type to connect to Esxi host igroup or leave it as it is since windows server is going to use as RDM? if i have to change the lun type to vmware then How do i do that whithout damaging the data?

I have migrated ver5.0 to ver.5.21 by doing followings. backup the database on the old server installed ver5.2.1 on new server. Copied the backup to new server. copied the key folder to new server. Restored the databse. recreated the self sign certificate. All went smothly, I started the services and all the services are running. I disabled the services on the old server. I want to make sure that the new server is monitoring the filers as the old server , that is, monitoring intervals are same as the old, snmp trap , monitoring volume space, LUn, SME Etc . Is there anyway i can compare the settings between these two server? or any test which I can perform to make sure that all the settings have been migrated.

We are currently running DFM ver 5.0 on windows 2003 server (32-bit) . We want to migrate the this old DFM from windows 2003 to new windows host (windows 2012). I am planning to install unified core package(ver 5.2) on a new server while the old server is in operation. Then backup the database from old and restore it to the new server to transfer all configuration and historical data from old to new. Deactivate the license from the old and activate it in the new server. I am not sure whether the database backup and restore will work from old ver to new ver(5.0 to 5.2). Or I have to install old ver on the new windows server then do the in place upgrade on the old DFM? What is correct process to upgrade our old ver5.0 to new? If you have any comments or suggestion , I appreciate. Thank you in advance.

Plan to to upgrade software on all fileres. These FAS systems are hosting LUNs for Exchange DAG.
For snapmirror we have to keep the destination filer with same ver or higher. What about for the DAG, Do we have to upgrade the software in all FAS system at same time with same ver?
I appreciate your inputs on this.

I am using single lun in a volume , the link below state that if we use single lun in a volume then snapmirror relationship will be uninitialized. Is there any work around to have resync option to be in system manager? https://communities.netapp.com/community/netapp-blogs/msenviro/blog/2011/04/24/using-snapmanager-for-hyper-v-smhv-for-disaster-recovery

Yes it is related to recent post. I am still working on it. I think that snapdrive is to mount the lun to a consistent snapshot and deletes others, this is normal behavior of snapdrive . I noticed that It still has snapdrive common snapshot which was created by snapdrive, but it goes to initialize state instead of staying on broken-off state. Ms iscsi initiator does not delete any snapshot since it does not care whether it is consistent snapshot or not.

My intention was to snapmirror volumes from A-->B then reverse resync (B-->A). I have created snapmirror relations for two volumes from source to detonation (A--->B) .Broke the mirror and mounted the lun on that volumes to two servers in site B. In site B, one server uses snapdrive and other server uses MS iscsi initator. I noticed that the snapmirror relation changed from broke-off to uninitialized state on the volume which host LUN for snapdrive. But the volume which host lun for ms iscsi initiator is still on broke-off state, I was expecting on sanpdrive volume snapmirror relation to be broken-off so I can reverse reresync using oncomand system manger. I am wondering why snapdrive volume changed the state from broken-off to uninitialized state?

I was able to recreate the issue today. I ran the initialization first then ran snap mirror via snap drive. i made it sure that both place have common snapshot. > snap list vol at both filer and noticed that both place has had common snapshot. for an example ****.snap.25 I noticed that last snapshot (***.snap.25) at the dr site is being deleted/renamed when i mount the lun to snapdrive . the sanpdrive gave this warning when i mounted the lun. you are attempting to connect to a lun residing on a broken snap mirror swatination storage system volume. A snaprestore operation from the most recent consistent snapshot copy of the lun will be performed before the connection is established.
